Dark Smokey Metallic Eyeshadow Tutorial

This is a dark smokey eye look with some metallic on the lower lashline to make it more fun. This is a very flattering style for my eye shape and will flatter down turned, hooded eyes, you can also make the shape more rounded to suit other eye shapes as well. I hope you enjoyed and let me know in the comments what videos you’d like to see next.

Orange and Copper Halo Eyeshadow Tutorial

This is one of my favorite color combinations to wear and also one of my favorite styles. Orange eyeshadows look great on blue eyes since orange is the complementary color to blue. This orange and copper halo eyeshadow tutorial will flatter blue eyes the most but will look nice on other eye colors, as well. (Check out my Champagne and Purple Halo Eyeshadow Tutorial if you want something perfect for green eyes or you just don’t do orange.)

007 Start out by priming your eyes. I am using Mac Painterly Paint Pot today.

006 Add a base shadow which will help us blend out shadows later on. Choose an eyeshadow that is close to your skin tone and matte. I am using Mac Blanc Type (matte, off white) on a Sigma Large Fluff.

010 Now add a transition eyeshadow. This will give a nice transition between your skin and the colored shadows. I am using Mac Wedge (matte, neutral light brown) on a Hakuhodo J5522 and applying it from the crease, blending towards the brow and along the lower lash line.

012Take Mac Red Brick (matte, red-copper) and start applying it to the outer quarter of the eyelid. I use a Hakuhodo J142 to apply and I apply it as a slight v shape.

014Now we’re going to repeat that color on the inner corner and also taking it along the outer quarters of the lower lash line. I use a Sigma E30 Pencil Brush to apply.

015With the same pencil brush add a touch of Mac Brown Script (matte, burnt orange) to the very outer v.

027 Add some Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma to the center of the upper and lower lid. I use a Mac 242 to apply.

023Add some of MAC Coppering (shimmer, red-copper) just on the edges of the Shimma Shimma on both lids. I use a pencil brush for this step.

031_1 I wanted to emphasize the halo effect even more so I used a brown liner on the outer and inner corners of the waterline and then a nude liner just in the center. I have also curled my lashes and added mascara.

037Here’s the finish looked with some lashes. I am wearing Velour lashes in Whispie Sweet Nothings.

erw

I hope you like this look. I think it’s very pretty, especially on blue eyes. If you want something less intense, go for more orange or gold coppers instead of the very red coppers I used today. Please let my know what other tutorials you’d like to see next in the comments below!

Blue & Green Analogous Color Scheme Eyeshadow Tutorial

This is a fun colorful look that’s so easy to apply. You can use whatever neutrals you like on top and then I used the Urban Decay Electric Palette for the bright colors on the lower lash line. I hope you like this look and if you try it out make sure to #rebeccashoresmua so I can see!

My Top Five Red Lipsticks

Disclosure: I was sent some of these items (Marc Jacobs Oh!, Miley & Coloured Raine Vanity Raine) but I bought the other lipsticks myself. As always, my thoughts and opinions are my own.

Today I wanted to share my favorite red lipsticks. Who doesn’t like a red lip? Since red is a color I reach for rather often, I figured I’d share with you what I consider my top five reds. Also, if you’re looking to try out a red lip but don’t know where to start, check out my tutorial on caring for your lips and how to apply lipstick!

076

  1. NARS Cruella

This is a lovely, blue based matte red lipstick. I really like the texture of this NARS Matte Velvet Pencil since it’s matte but not quite as dry as Mac Ruby Woo. I wish the pencil was a twist-up instead of one you need to sharpen, but the pencil packaging does make it easy to throw into a handbag.  It’s also in the Sephora birthday gift this year so I am sure many of you will be able to try it out. Overall, this is one of my favorite reds. The cool undertones will flatter cool and neutral undertones as well as really pop on those with warmer completions.

  1. Bite Sherry

This Cashmere Lip Cream by Bite is a fun, warm, bright red. I really enjoy the texture which has almost a soft creamy feel, much like the NYX soft matte lip creams, but it has a longer wear time. This is a much bolder red on my fair skin, but with its bright, warm undertones and full opacity this will complement deeper skin tones and those on the warm side, as well.

  1. Marc Jacobs Oh Miley! Le Marc Lip Creme

This is a new one for me but has fast become a favorite. It’s a creamy, blue based red. It’s the most comfortable to wear of these five since it has a cream finish, instead of a matte. It has a long wear time for a cream, about seven hours. This is a bit lighter shade of red than the others, so it works well for light or fair skin tones and will be very bold on deeper complexions.

  1. Coloured Raine Vanity Raine Liquid Lipstick

This is a liquid-to-matte lipstick that is a balanced red. This is a lipstick where your lips need to be in shape to wear, since it’s a liquid-to-matte, but it will stay on your lips until you use an oil remover. This is also a color that will work for a range of undertones, as it is a balanced red. It’s neither too blue or too yellow, so if you’re unsure what red would be best for you, go for this balanced red.

  1. Mac Ruby Woo Retro Matte Lipstick

This is the first red lipstick I really loved. I had owned a few reds before, but they were never colors I really felt confident wearing. Ruby Woo has strong blue undertones which makes your teeth look very white, and for being such a rich red it still complements fair skin as a statement lip. The texture is very dry, so you will want to wear a primer first and make sure your lips are well hydrated and exfoliated. With such a dry texture you get a long wear time (6-8 hours), so it’s worth it.

I hope you all liked hearing my favorite reds. Let me know what other “top lists” you’d like to see by posting down in the comments & also what your favorite red lip is!

Here’s a easy, everyday beauty matte burgundy eyeshadow tutorial with no winged liner nor false lashes, I will be using “Everyday Beauty” in the title of tutorials that have no winged liner nor big lashes. I got a request to do a burgundy smokey eye, so here’s my take on it. I hope you guys like it, this was filmed before a had my new lens so it is a bit darker than my next videos will be, but unfortunately my original video for today has a buzzing from the mic throughout so I need to re film it. Hope you have a great week!

Paula’s Choice Skincare Review

Paula’s Choice Skincare Review

This review is brought to you by Paula’s Choice and Pretty In My Pocket.

068

I’ve been using these Paula’s Choice products for the past two months and will be sharing my thoughts and experience with you all. Paula’s Choice is a new brand for me, so to begin I had a consultation over the phone with a Paula’s Choice skincare consultant. This was very nice since they carry a lot of products and she was able to help me pick what products would work best for me. The lady I spoke with asked about my skin concerns and what my skin was like and then put together a routine for me. I have combination skin (oily t-zone with normal cheeks and dry patches by nose and eyes) that is also sensitive (I avoid sodium lauryl sulfate and chemical sunblocks) and my concerns are brightening, evening tone and anti-aging. I liked that the consultant suggested products from different categories to fit my unique skin type instead of simply recommending one of their kits that would only address some of my issues. Their products include a little booklet with all the information on when to use what, as well as stickers so you can stick on a “step 2 day” sticker on a product and always know when to use it if you’re not a skincare junkie. Now, let’s go over the products I’ve been using and how they’re working for me.
